André Ritchie

Born and raised in Macau, he comes from a traditional Macanese family that embraces both Portuguese and Chinese cultures. He holds a degree in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Oporto, Portugal. Following a career in the Government that saw him in charge of several large-scale infrastructure projects, he is currently the Director of Property & Works Department in STDM, overseeing the company’s large portfolio of properties. 
André was introduced to photography at a young age by his father, who taught him the basics of picture taking. His passion for photography endured over the years ever since he experienced his first photos with his father’s Olympus Trip 35 – a camera he still shoots with to this day. To share his work and views on photography, he created Measuring Light, a blog with a solid number of followers that has been referenced in reputable online photography platforms.www.measuringlight.com


António Duarte Mil-Homens

Macau resident. Was born in Lisbon on  October 9, 1949.
Essentially self-taught, started with Photography on a regular basis in 1974. Holds qualifications from the Portuguese Association of Photographic Art and  attended a number of photographic workshops.
In 1984 he became a publicity photographer, working for various agencies and companies including food producers, cosmetics, textile, automobile, telecommunications, glass and crystal manufacturers, as well as official departments, doing studio photography, industrial, landscape, reportage, aerial and scientific photography.
From June 1987 to January 2005, he also worked as a photographer in the Institute for Advanced Agronomy Studies in Lisbon, capturing photo and video images for teaching support and investigation, with thousands of images published on thesis and communications in Portugal and overseas.
Has held 22 individual photographic exhibitions in Portugal and Macau and participated in 27 collective exhibitions (Portugal, France, Russia, China and Macau).
Honoured at a number of photography competitions, he was also a Jury member in a few ones.
On the invitation of student’s associations and other institutions, such as the House of Portugal in Macau, he organized and taught, since 1989, 51 photography courses, along with short photography workshops.
His work has been published in dozens of books.


Nuno Sardinha da Mata

Born in Lisbon, Alentejano by adoption and  Macanese by conviction. Professionaly he is a Lawyer that lived in Macau for most part of his adult life.
Once upon a time, when cameras still had rolls of film he falled in love with Photography influenced by his father who owned a Zeiss Ikon IKonta folding film camera.
His first Camera was a Kodak Instamatic. Yes,  that one that used cute flash cubes for indoor photos. 
From then until the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV a long way was passed, but the passion is still there.
It defines himself as unpretentious Amateur glad to be part of this community of big names of Photography in Macau.


Pedro Benjamim

Radio host based in Macau that loves to ramble around while capturing the daily life of the city. Besides street photography he occasionally does some work covering current events.
At a young age he started developing black and white photos with his father in a homemade studio and nowadays he is rediscovering the joy of film photography.
Besides photography, Pedro Benjamim loves AC/DC and is always researching about random things – cameras, of course, but also watches, microhpones and technology in general.
Born and raised in Guimarães (Portugal) he later moved to Coimbra to proceed his studies where he completed a Bachelor and Master degree in Journalism. Nowadays, in Macau, Pedro Benjamim returned to the academic life as a Radio Practice Visiting Professor in Saint Joseph University.


Catarina Cortesão

Born in Lisbon concluded her studies in Acting and Drama in CITAC (Circulo de Iniciação ao Teatro Académico de Coimbra); and Law degree in prestigious University of Coimbra, Portugal. Photographer and filmmaker early developed her interest in different visual, written, and performing art forms. As well as has worked with international choreographers, and in different fiction projects at national Portuguese TV station (RTP). After, she joined the Centre of Photography Studies (CEF - Coimbra, Portugal). Catarina started by developing autobiographical photographic work, focusing on the theme of the city gazed as the the performativity place of the Image, exploring in this way new visual aesthetic forms. She was part of alternative creative movements and protagonists of her time in terms of theater, cinema, architecture and music. A songbook of images enunciated by written reflection and poetic narrative, for which she received several awards. Namely, Short Story Writing Prize by the University of Coimbra, Portugal; and   “Visão” magazine (Portugal) best photography essay. In the 1990s travelled around Asia, Europe, and the United States of America, gaining life and working experience. In particular when visited Macau for the very first time in 1993, she started a work series entitled “Pearl River Diaries” still being developed today, had chosen Dinamene for her Alter Ego, which gazes sentimental scenescapes fabulations and memory attachment visuality, by depicting urban cultural ecologies and giving way to engage artistically in other imagery experiences related to the theme of the city. In the realm of Utopia and Dystopia, and in the margins of the age of global visibility, her visual work engages photography and film as the place of time-memory state of being, questioning the boundaries between the real and the constructed reality from the idea of a stage as a dream that will eventually come true, related to the shift of the anthroposcene paradigm at the turn of the twenty-first century.


António Sotero 

Born in Azores October 1955, Terceira, Lajes Airbase (BA 4), Antonio Sotero grew up a nomad. Having an air force pilot as a father, the family moved between Africa and Portugal for the greater part of 40 years. The longest time spent in any place was in Macau, where Sotero arrived in March 1999 with his wife and children.
Being exposed to different cultures was an eye opening experience for Sotero's sensibility and of course photography. Being the Administrative Coordinator for a C&C lawyers also greatly improved his skill as he is known as the “paparazzi” on service for every function or event for 21 years.
Having a few photography courses, all with Antonio Mil-Homens, vastly improved his technical abilities. Sotero is now focused in improving his skills with the association members and with future courses.


Francisco Ricarte

Portuguese, born in 1955, Architect, photography enthusiast since 1976, moved to Macau SAR, China in 2006. Asia has fascinated him since his arrival in Macau and allowed him to see his former world from a new perspective.
Themes such as identity, place, memory, visual culture, literature and poetry have been a source of inspiration and research. Through photography he tries to express himself, digging deeper into those themes, fostering his understanding of what surrounds him.

José Luís de Sales Marques

Photography became a hobby for José at early age, when he got a Kodak Brownie as a birthday gift from his father.  He was engaged in photographic projects in the 1980’s and some of his photos were published to illustrate books and articles on Macau’s monuments and heritage. He shots in Color and B&W, using 35mm and medium format cameras, including a much bellowed Rolleiflex (6X6), as well as the inevitable smart phone.  His interest lies mainly in street and urban photography as well as travel memos. 


David Antunes

Born and raised in Porto, Portugal, David Lopo Antunes had his first contact with photography during university.
After completing a bachelor in Sound and Image in Universidade Católica do Porto, he explored the the world of video and photography freelance, while dedicating his free time to digital illustration. In 2019, he moved to Macau to broaden his horizons and focus on photography and digital illustration. 
Currently, besides being a freelancer in these two areas, he works in Casa de Portugal, teaching multimedia courses such as Photoshop and Photography, as well as didactic activities for younger generations.

João Miguel Barros

Born in 1958, in Lisbon, Portugal. He is a Lawyer by profession, in Lisbon and Macau.
He was co-director of the SEMA culture and visual arts magazine published in Lisbon between 1979 and1982.
He started exhibiting his photography work in 2017.
Individual exhibitions: “Creative Macau”, Macau (2017), “Museu Colecção Berardo”, Lisbon, (2018), “Macau Contemporary Art Center”, Macau (2019), Albergue SCM (2019) and Rui Cunha Foundation, Macau (2020). He has also participated in several group exhibitions.
He published four photobooks. Currently he is publishing the “Zine Photo” with his own work.
João Miguel Barros is also an independent curator in contemporary photography and is doing the renovation of Ochre Space, a new art gallery, publisher, and bookstore, specialized in contemporary photography. To be open in Lisbon during the year 2022 www.jmb.photo www.zine.photo

João Palla Martins

He started photographing during his teenage years in Macau with professor, artist and photographer António Andrade. Belonging to the analogue or film based photography he used to develop his films and printing in the darkroom. He has shifted to digital practice recently while keeping a documentary representation. He is currently developing a project of photographing the Luso-Asians communities, which he exhibited some works and published two books of a larger collection. For him photography “unfolds the path to creativity and to storytelling”.
Graduated in Architecture, Master in Design and Visual Culture, PhD in Art Sciences.
Works and lives in Macau.


Nuno Veloso

Holds a degree in Photography and a Master Degree in Communications and Media Studies, which made him a Professional Photographer, Image Creative Director and Visiting Professor.
Nuno Veloso is a results-orientated with more than 20 years of highly motivated Image Creative Director with a background in Photography, Fashion, Image Branding, B2B Image Negotiations and Creative Team Management.
In London, Nuno Veloso was Director of a Commercial Studio Producing large-scale projects for Fashion Campaigns & Magazines editorials, E-commerce & Visual Merchandising, Architecture and Hospitality Clients.
As a Creative Director, he adopted a leadership mentor style.
Nuno cultivates a highly productive and engaging company culture. His creative leadership was paid-off by the "Excellence Young Entrepreneur” award in 2016. His Creative & Executive skills merged beautifully to create a Visual Communications & Image Production house, "Core Productions".
Nuno's great passion is portraying celebrities such, David Beckham, Bruno Mars, Paris Hilton, Jet Li, Alicia Keys, Dominique Villepin, Boy George in many others. Nuno's most appreciated hobby is traveling and Scuba Diving since photography is a job.

João Rato

More than 20 years of experience in the financial area in parallel with teaching periods in Universities such as Macau’s USJ and Polytechnic Institute. Has an MBA from University College Dublin and a Business Management degree from ISCTE in Lisbon. Various collaborations on the radio and in various publications. An insatiable adventurer, has traveled the four corners of the planet, always with his camera. Photography is one of his favorite hobbies.


Nuno Tristão

Born in Terceira, Azores, in 1972, started a degree in power systems engineering in A Military university but ended up “deserting” after couple of years and “enlisting” in IADE - Lisbon’s Design University, finishing his degree in Graphic Design in 1995.
Became a professional “Mad Men” in advertising in January 1995 seeing his work being awarded several national and international prizes, including a prestigious Cannes Lion in 2003.
In 2005, after a long journey through South America decides to become a freelancer and allow himself to travel more.
Two years later, takes his passion for communication to Angola, first to give birth to a new advertising agency and, later that year, to help create and establish the new design department of the largest Angolan Communication group.

Besides his career in Advertising, studies Theatre between 1996 and 2000 ending up acting not only on stage but also on TV and advertising.
In 2004 starts a collective called “happydemia”, creating conceptual infectious spaces for entertainment and art sharing, the group develops 9 projects, two of them integrated in Boom Festival, in Portugal, in 2004 and 2006, where he joins the design and scenography team between 2014 and 2018.
Also counts with several participations in other Festivals in Portugal, Spain and Morocco between 2006 and 2018.
Comes for the first time to Macao in 2018 to be part of the design team of The Script Road - Macao's literary festival.
Falls in love.
Since then, besides The Script Road, has also been part of This Is My City (2018/2019) and started BE-ATS, an ongoing irregular dance floor focusing on electronic music were he keeps developing design and scenography.
Since the start of the digital era of photography, never had a camera.
Nowadays, shoots with his phone, exclusively for Instagram as @berlait.  

Gonçalo Lobo Pinheiro

Born in Lisbon, Portugal, in April 4, 1979. He is a Portuguese photojournalist who has been living in Macau for the past 10 years.
His closest family has no artistic tradition. This explains why he only truly came into the world of photography at the age of 18. He knows many Portuguese photographers, of the most diverse fields, and continues to learn with them. After four years studying Geological Engineering, he reached the conclusion that his interests were elsewhere and enrolled in Communication Sciences, Journalism variant, in the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa - a degree he completed in 2005.
He started working in photography in 2000 and, two years later, started his professional internship in the now extinct news agency Intermeios. For six years he was part of the permanent staff at the A Bola newspaper. After that, he collaborated with various Portuguese and foreign publications, including the Jornal i, Público, Correio da Manhã, O Comércio do Porto, Expresso, Washington Post, BBC, The Guardian, and many others. He also carried out photographic works for various companies. Between 2004 and 2010 he was, in Portugal, the official photographer of Brazilian singer Daniela Mercury.
Winner of a number of awards throughout his career, Gonçalo Lobo Pinheiro has also had a number of exhibitions, both collectively and under his own name. The book Macau 5.0 | 澳門5.0 | Macao 5.0, published in 2015, is his first photography book. In 2019, he presented Myanmar: o retrato de um povo, his latest book.
Having arrived in Macau, he joined the Hoje Macau newspaper, where he worked as writer and editor-in-charge between 2010 and 2014. He was the photography director of the Culture Guide and, currently, he is the photography coordinator of Macau magazine, Portuguese version. Between May 2018 and December 2020 he was a multimedia journalist and editor of the Plataforma Media project of the Global Media group. Currently, he is a photojournalist and journalist at the Ponto Final newspaper. 



Sara Augusto

PhD in Portuguese Literature and university professor.
Studies on photography since 2012 at the Secção de Fotografia da Associação Académica de Coimbra. In 2016, Curso Profissional de Fotografia (IPF, Porto), with several projects, mainly in the documentary and fictional documentary area. 
Collaboration with the Câmara Municipal de Mangualde, Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Mangualde and Departamento dos Bens Culturais da Diocese de Viseu, working on event photography, inventory and documentary photography.
Photography workshops (2016, Câmara Municipal de Mangualde); several collective publications; collaboration with Porto Editora and the writer José Rodrigues in the projects: O Rio de EsmeraldaVoltar a tiO tempo nos teus olhosDias de Outono
Participation in collective exhibitions and individual exhibition ("Nos teus olhos", 2019, Dep. dos Bens Culturais da Diocese, Viseu). Lectures on the relationship between literature and photography (Lisboa, Universidade Nova, 2015; Viseu, Museu Grão Vasco, 2016).

Nuno da Luz Martins

Born in 1977, Lawyer since 2000 and photography enthusiast since childhood.
His professional career caused his sudden move to Macau in 2004, opening the eye to a fascinating new world of cultural diversity.
From wildlife to urban themes, Asia and in particular China provided him an infinite source of inspiration.

Ricardo Pinto

Born in Mozambique and raised in Portugal, Ricardo Pinto moved in 1990 to Macau, where he’s been working as a journalist and a publisher, and more recently also as an event organizer. His passion for photography is not so much about capturing images, but about collecting them. Macau Closer magazine, published since 2007, currently organizes a photo competition annually.
