Ricardo Alves:
Ricardo S. Alves was born in Lisbon (1976) and graduated in civil engineering in FCT-UNL. His interest in photography began around the age of 15 while he was living in Macau and during trips he took around Asia with his parents. Upon returning to Portugal to complete his studies, natural landscape photography and rock climbing became the central themes of his work. As a freelance photographer, he regularly collaborates with climbing magazines and his work has been recognized in national and international photography competitions. For more than two decades, he has documented the development of climbing in Portugal, having played a very active role in its promotion and visibility beyond borders. He was the photographer responsible for the images in the guide “Portugal – Rock Climbing”, launched in 2017 and author of the guide “Sintra Bouldering Guidebook”, launched by himself in 2021.
