Nuno C. Bastos - Photography
My journey into the world of photography began at the age of 18 when I first picked up a film camera. It wasn't long before my passion and dedication led me to become one of the few young photographers capturing news for newspapers in Macau. During the 1990s, I had the unique privilege of being one of the few Portuguese photographers available for such assignments, working alongside some of the more senior and seasoned local Chinese and Macanese photographers from Macau's government and various news outlets.
My work quickly gained recognition, and I was fortunate to have many of my photographs published in almost every Portuguese-language newspaper in town for nearly two decades. This period was incredibly formative, allowing me to hone my skills and develop a keen eye for capturing compelling stories through my lens.
With the casino boom in Macau, my career took an exciting turn. I transitioned into event production, and my photography work evolved to focus more on event and commercial projects. Today, I am proud to serve as the Associate Director of Sands Macau. In this role, I manage large-scale events and have the extraordinary opportunity to spearhead innovative photography projects initiated by the company.
Despite the commercial nature of much of my current work, my heart remains deeply connected to my passion for street and travel photography. I cherish the moments when I can use my camera to capture unique scenes and record the history of these remarkable times in China. It is a privilege to document this incredible country's vibrant and ever-changing landscape.
Joining this photography club is a thrilling opportunity to connect with fellow enthusiasts and continue to nurture my love for photography. I look forward to sharing my experiences, learning from others, and contributing to the vibrant community of photographers that this club represents.
